- CONDITION: Very Good.
- TOP: Solid Spruce.
- BACK/SIDES: Solid Maple.
- F/BOARD: Rosewood.
This is a very rare and valuable Gibson J-185. They where originally
made between 1951-1958. According to the Gibson books only 643
sunburst where made and 270 natural, making a total of less than
a thousand altogether. This one is in nice condition and plays
and sounds lovely. It has a smaller body than a J-200 and is very
comfortable to play. The price on this one is only a third of
its book price because we are uncertain if it has had a replaced
back at some time in its history. I along with our luthier, vintage
guitar expert and Gibson rep can not say for sure. A back stripe
has been added either way. Supplied with 50's (original?) hard
case.
