We sold our 1957 Precision bass (see past sales section) about four years ago. Since then the search has been on to find another one. The 1957 Precision is one of the rarest of all the Fender basses because production of the current/latest style shaped bass only started in the summer of that year. Over the four years I found only two 1957 basses (of that style) offered for sale, neither of which were as good as the one I sold. When I saw the Fender Custom Shop was offering a 2007 Limited Edition 1957 Heavy Relic Stratocaster I asked them whether they could make me a replica of my old 1957 precision. After a six months wait, this is the result. As far as I know this is the only one they have made like this. It feels very close to the original, and I am very pleased with it. It looks and plays like an old bass, but it is as easy to set-up and adjust as a new one, the best of both worlds. Everything about it is a replica of the original, pretty much exact. It has a low action, great sound and the weight is as light as the old one, just perfect. You are probably wondering if the original vintage 1957 Precision is worth the current market value of four or five times the price of this new replica, well I'm not getting into that, its for you the customer to decide. Comes complete with 50's style tweed case.
