| FENDER 1965 PRECISION BASS. |
| |
- CONDITION: Excellent.
- BODY: Alder.
- NECK: Maple.
- F/BOARD: Rosewood.
This is a 1965 Fender Precision Bass, ser no: L72984. It is in
lovely condition, one of the best that we have seen for a long
long time. It shows no sign of heavy gigging, just light wear.
It was bought by the last owner from one of the largest Vintage
guitars dealers in the UK, it was sold to him as a 1964. If anyone
had bothered to take the bass apart they would have discovered
that it is a 1965, just goes to show that even the experts can
make mistakes. The neck date is April 1965, pot dates are 3046512
which is the 12th week of 1965. Solder joints look untouched,
but one wire may have been re-soldered. Finish is original with
paint stick mark in the neck cavity and nail holes visible under
the scatchplate. Our Fender rep has examined this bass and he
thinks the finish is a see through Blond, but I think it is Olympic
White and that is what it was sold to the last owner as, it is
difficult to tell because I think the finish has gone slightly
translucent because of years of polishing by a fastidious owner.
This bass has certainly been very well looked after and really
cared for during its life. I have carried out a full set-up and
the action is amazing, the neck is lovely and straight and the
frets are in great condition. The fingerboard is a lovely piece
of Brazilian rosewood. Everything on the bass looks original apart
from the bridge cover which I think is a replacement. The bass
is supplied in its original case which is also in lovely condition.
You won't find many Precisions of this age in this condition.
