This is a lovely bass, a 1955 Fender Precision bass with a beautiful and stunning flame maple neck. Neck date Nov 1955, serial number: 11528. It has a slightly slimmer neck than usual mid 50’s Fender basses tend to have, which makes it much nicer to play. The bridge, back plate, control plate, pickup and bridge covers, cap, jack socket, ferrules and string tree are all original. The body and neck are original but have been professionally refinished, and a later decal added to the headstock (I would guess this was done at the same time as the re-finish). Pick up, knobs and pots have been replaced and possibly the tuners. The bass is very light and resonant, and sounds great. The refinishing brings the price down on this instrument to a level that is only a little more than a new Custom Shop relic or reissue. Why buy one of those, when for a little bit more you could own the real thing and a piece of history at the same time. It comes with a black 60’s Fender case.
