This is the rarest guitar we have ever offered for sale in the
Vintage and Rare section. It is a 1952 Gibson ES-295 in an impossible
to find Sunburst finish. Ser no: A-12053. The Gibson ES-295 was
launched in 1952 as a glitzy version of a ES-175. It was finished
in Bullion Gold which gave it a striking appearance. This model
is usually associated with Scotty Moore (Elvis guitarist) and
in 1999 Gibson issued a Scotty Moore ES-295 and presented one
to him. What makes our guitar so valuable and rare is the sunburst
finish. Vintage guitar dealers in the States tell me that apart
from the standard gold finish they have only ever seen a “one
off” in a Blonde finish and one other in a Sunburst which
was, at the time, owned by Eric Clapton, (later sold at a charity
auction for $21,000). Production of the ES-295 started in 1952
and 297 where made that first year. Production continued until
1958 and in total 1770 guitars where made. This guitar plays and
sounds incredible. The Spec includes, twin P-90 pick-ups, trapeze
bridge/tail-piece, triple bound top, 19 fret fingerboard, double
parallelogram inlay, crown peghead inlay and gold plated hardware.
The guitar is all original apart from two knobs that have been
changed and it is also missing its pickguard. We are hoping to
be able to source and fit exact replacements for both of these
items before it is sold. This is the only one of this type of
guitar that you are ever likely to see, if you are interested
in it do not hesitate to contact us, you will never get another
chance.
- PRICE……..£4995 inc VAT.
